Refund Policy
This Refund Policy explains when you can get your money back from DataGuys (dataguys.co), a global provider, and when a purchase is non-refundable. It applies to everything you buy from us — hosting, domains, email, security, and website design. The short version: our hosting plans come with a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first purchase, some things (like domain registrations) can’t be refunded once they’re submitted to a registry, and if you’re ever unsure, email us first and we’ll make it right where we can. This policy is part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service.
1. The 7-day money-back guarantee
Our hosting plans carry a 7-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not happy with your hosting, cancel within 7 days of your first purchase and we’ll refund the full hosting fee you paid for that plan. The guarantee covers our core hosting products:
- Web Hosting (shared managed hosting);
- WordPress Hosting (managed WordPress);
- Hosting Plus (semi-dedicated hosting);
- VDS / VPS servers (virtual dedicated servers).
The guarantee applies to the first purchase of a plan only. It does not apply to renewals, to upgrades or add-ons purchased on top of an existing plan, or to any second or later term of the same service. There’s no partial refund for the unused portion of a term after the 7-day window closes; to stop future charges, simply cancel before your renewal date (see Section 5).
2. How to request a refund
To claim the money-back guarantee, email contact@dataguys.co within 7 days of your first purchase from the address on your account, and let us know which service you’d like to cancel and refund. You can also call or text us at (520) 309-5786, but please follow up in writing so we have a clear record. Once we confirm the request, we’ll cancel the service and issue the refund to your original payment method (see Section 6). We calculate the 7 days from the date of your original order confirmation.
3. What’s non-refundable
Some purchases can’t be refunded, either because a third party has already been paid on your behalf or because the value has already been delivered. The following are non-refundable:
- Domain registrations, transfers, and renewals. Once a domain is submitted to the registry it is non-refundable — this is an industry and registry rule that applies to essentially every registrar, not a DataGuys choice. Registering, transferring, or renewing a domain incurs a non-refundable fee the moment the order is submitted, even if you later decide you don’t want the name. Please double-check spelling and extension before you confirm.
- Third-party add-ons and services. Products we resell or provision through a partner — and any setup, migration, or professional-services fees that have already been performed — are non-refundable once activated or delivered.
- Usage and overage already incurred. Metered charges, overages, or pay-as-you-go usage you’ve already run are non-refundable, since the underlying resources have already been consumed.
4. Website design and care plans
Website design is handled a little differently because it’s custom work:
- Deposits are refundable before work starts. If you’ve paid a deposit or build fee but we haven’t begun design work yet, you can cancel and we’ll refund the deposit in full.
- Design work is non-refundable once delivered. After design work has been performed and delivered to you, the build fee is non-refundable, because the time and creative work have already been spent on your project.
- Care plans run a 12-month term on a new build, then renew on the plan’s own cycle. Every new website build includes a care plan with a minimum term of twelve months from the day your site goes live. After that it continues to renew on that plan’s own billing cycle — monthly for most packages, yearly for Premium, as shown on the package — and you can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. Care plans bought on their own, without a new build, are month to month from the start. Either way we don’t charge you again after you cancel, and we don’t issue partial-period refunds for the days remaining in a period you’ve already paid for.
5. Renewals aren’t covered by the guarantee
Recurring products — hosting, email, security, and care plans — renew automatically so your services don’t lapse. The 7-day money-back guarantee applies to a plan’s first purchase, not to renewals. We send a renewal notice to your account email before each renewal charge. If you don’t want to renew, cancel before the renewal date and you won’t be billed for the next term. If a renewal does charge and you catch it right away, contact us — we’ll always take a look and do what’s fair, but renewals are outside the guarantee and refunds on them are at our discretion.
6. How refunds are issued
Approved refunds go back to the original payment method used for the purchase — the same Stripe card charge or PayPal payment. We can’t redirect a refund to a different card, account, or person. Once we process a refund it typically takes about 5–10 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or card issuer; the timing on their end is outside our control. Refunds are issued in the original currency for the original amount charged.
7. Chargebacks — please talk to us first
If something looks wrong with a charge, please contact us at contact@dataguys.co before disputing it with your bank or card issuer. Almost every billing question — a duplicate charge, an unexpected renewal, a plan you meant to cancel — we can sort out faster and more easily than a formal chargeback can. Filing a chargeback or payment dispute without contacting us first may result in immediate suspension or termination of your services while the dispute is investigated, and it can put associated domains and data at risk. We’re genuinely easy to reach, and we’d much rather fix the problem directly.
8. No refunds for Terms or Acceptable Use violations
Accounts suspended or terminated for violating our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy — for example, hosting malicious or illegal content, sending spam, or abusing shared resources — are not eligible for a refund, including under the 7-day money-back guarantee. Fees already paid for a service terminated for cause are non-refundable.
9. Downtime is not a refund event
This policy covers refunds on purchases. Downtime does not by itself entitle you to money back; eligibility for a refund, including the first-purchase guarantee, is governed by the terms above. See our Service Level Agreement for how we monitor services, handle incidents, and communicate updates.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify active customers by email. The policy in effect at the time of your purchase is the one that applies to that purchase.
